Glossary

Connotation: an implied meaning.

Denotation: what you can literally see in the image.

Studium: broad sense of what the image is. What gives you the attention in the image, e.g aesthetic or lighting.

Punctum: a small detail that is off from everything else. Causes the viewer to see the photo in a different way. What makes the photo.

Main f-stop values: 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16, 22, 32, 64

Main shutter speeds: 30", 15", 8", 4", 2", 1", 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000
